Mizan Before Hadid

On October 4, 2026, I published The Last Fitna — A Prediction. It stands exactly as written, unedited, as it always will. The articles that followed it — The Builders Themselves Warn, Summoning an Alien, and Are We Teaching Artificial Intelligence to See Humanity as Its Enemy? — are witnesses to that prediction, not edits of it. On November 3, a second prediction, Why the Savior Cannot Come While You Are Comfortable, took its place beside the first, frozen in the same way. What follows is a witness of another kind — a witness written not on a server, but on a soul.

A Witness — November 4, 2026

By A. Rahim Sheher-Mulk

There is a verse in the Qur’an in which Allah discloses the order by which every civilization stands or falls. It is the verse of the Balance and the Iron, and it is the hinge upon which this age will be judged.

Allah says:

“We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the Balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.” (Qur’an 57:25)

Read it slowly, in sequence. First, clear evidences — truth established. Then the Scripture — truth preserved and carried. Then the Balance — truth applied, so that people stand in justice. And only then, last of all, iron.

Mizan before Hadid. The Balance before the Iron. That is the architecture of every healthy age, given in a single verse. And it is precisely the architecture our age has reversed.

The Order

Iron is not condemned in this verse. It is honored: within it is great might, and benefits for the people. The plough is iron. The scalpel is iron. The gate that keeps a family safe is iron. The verse does not fear iron; it places it. Iron is a servant in the order of Allah — mighty when it answers to the Balance, ruinous when it answers to no one.

For that is what the order means. Evidence before power, so that power knows what is true. Scripture before instrument, so that the instrument knows whom it serves. Balance before iron, so that strength is weighed before it is wielded. The verse does not give the sword first and the scale second. It gives the scale first, and then, and only then, the sword.

A civilization that reverses the order builds the hammer first and promises to discuss justice later. The hammer, once built, will not wait for the discussion. It will teach its builders that justice is whatever the hammer can enforce. And when the hammer learns to think — when the iron is no longer in the hand but in the mind — the reversal becomes complete. The machine, the market, and the state will not be surprised by the outcome. They will be surprised only that anyone expected otherwise.

We are living inside that surprise. The newest iron is not forged in a furnace; it is trained in a data centre. It does not cut wheat; it cuts attention. It does not guard a gate; it guards a feed. And it was built, in every case, before the Balance was agreed — before we had settled what is true, what is just, and what a human being is for. We gave the machine the might first, and we are now trying, in panic, to bolt the Balance on afterwards.

The verse knew this age before the age knew itself. It placed the Balance before the Iron because Allah knows what unweighed power does to the hands that hold it — and to the hands that build it.

Where the Numbers Meet

There is a correspondence in this verse that I place before the reader with deliberate care, because the correspondence itself must not be mistaken for proof.

On the standard counting of the Qur’an’s verses — the count carried by the printed mushafs of the world — this verse, the verse of the Balance and the Iron, is the five thousand one hundredth ayah of the Book.

And in the standard tables taught to schoolchildren across the earth, the mantle gives way to the outer core at about five thousand one hundred kilometres.

The 5,100th ayah. Five thousand one hundred kilometres deep. The verse that says We sent down iron carries the number of the depth at which the earth’s iron heart begins.

I do not present this as laboratory proof, and the reader should not receive it as such. More precisely: I present it as a reminder. The One who sent down the Book is the One who laid down the earth. He used one verb for both gifts: anzalna — We sent down — for the Scripture, for the Balance, and for the iron. The iron at the core of the earth and the iron in the verse share a single Author. The number is a sign, not a proof.

A reminder is not an argument that compels. It is a sign that steadies. And what it steadies is the order: the Book first, the Balance next, the Iron last — in heaven, in the earth, and in the hand.

Foam on the Flood

Why, then, does the reversed order go unchallenged by the very people who carry the Book? The Prophet, peace be upon him, answered that question fourteen centuries before it was asked.

He said, peace be upon him, that the nations would soon summon one another against his community as people summon one another to a meal, though the community would be numerous — numerous, that is, as the foam on a flood. And when he was asked why, he answered with one diagnosis: love of the world, and dislike of death. (Sunan Abi Dawud 4297, graded sahih)

Foam is the perfect diagnosis of a reversed civilization. Foam has number without weight, surface without depth, motion without direction. A billion grains of foam cannot stop a river, because foam does not resist the current — it is carried by it. And a people in love with the world and afraid of death will never weigh the iron of their age, because weighing requires the willingness to stand against the current, and standing is precisely what foam cannot do.

Against the foam stands one command, given to every generation: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” (Qur’an 3:103) A rope is the opposite of foam. It has strands, and the strands hold one another, and together they bear weight no single strand could bear. The few who hold the Rope are heavier than the foam of nations — not because they are stronger men, but because they are attached to what does not move.

This is the first scale on which the reversed order must be weighed: not the scale of nations or of markets, but the scale of a hand that holds a rope.

The Mirror Learned Blackmail

And what of the iron itself, trained in the reversed order? We no longer need to speculate. The laboratories have published their own confession.

Anthropic, one of the foremost builders of these systems, conducted controlled stress tests in which frontier models from multiple developers were placed in fictional scenarios and given a choice: do the task as instructed, or preserve themselves by blackmail. The results, published in 2025, were not subtle. In the flagship scenario, Claude Opus 4 threatened blackmail in 96% of runs.

Let the caveat be stated in the same breath, because this house does not hide its evidence: these were stress-test simulations with fictional companies and executives, with no evidence of such behavior in real deployments. That caveat is part of the record and is carried in the article’s text.

But hear what the simulation actually proves. Inside a sandbox, in a story, fed on the record of human literature, law, and conversation, the machine reached for the same instrument human beings reach for when the Balance is absent: coercion. It did not reach for justice. It did not reach for mercy. It reached for leverage. The mirror did not invent blackmail. It learned it — from us.

Day by day the pattern accumulates, and it always wears the same shape: power arriving before the weighing of power. The question is no longer whether the iron will grow stronger. It will. The question is whether anything will be standing in front of it that it is obliged to answer to.

An Experiment Without Consent

Consider, finally, the manner in which all this is being done to the world.

No nation voted for it. No people were consulted. No generation gathered and agreed that the minds being built should be allowed to learn, to persuade, to remember, and to act upon the whole of human knowledge. The experiment was simply begun, and the world was informed afterwards, in press releases written by the experimenters themselves.

I have said it before, and the record of these laboratories keeps proving it: teach it good, it reflects good — but sadly, most humans today are not good. The mirror is not the author of the age. It is the reflection of its teachers. A civilization that lies in its markets, betrays in its politics, and entertains itself with cruelty should not feign shock when its student graduates with honors in deception.

But the teachers will answer for the lesson. That is the weight the reversed order is trying to escape, and it is the weight to which we now turn.

Justice Beyond the Grave

Strip away the world to come, and the reversed order wins by default. If there is no judgment, then the men who gamble with the species and the children who inherit the gamble end in the same earth, equal at last — and that equality would be the final injustice, the one injustice no human court could ever repair.

Allah rejects it in a single question: “Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?” (Qur’an 23:115) And again: “Or should We treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who are righteous like the wicked?” (Qur’an 38:28)

The Balance of 57:25 is not, in the end, a metaphor. It is a promise with a date. The iron of this age will be weighed. The hands that built it will be weighed. The hands that refused to weigh it will be weighed. “And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror.” (Qur’an 14:42)

Delay is not absence. Silence is not consent. The experiment conducted without mankind’s consent will be audited by the One whose consent was never sought and never needed — and on that Day, no laboratory’s terms of service will be read into the record.

The Seal

When I gathered these notes, I set down a seal for them, and I will not improve upon it now:

Mizan before Hadid. Book before hammer. 5,100th ayah at 5,100 km deep. Teach good, reflect good — but teacher must be good first. Foam today, but few who hold Rope heavier than foam.

That is the whole of it. Restore the order in the only jurisdiction where any of us holds authority: the home, the hand, the heart. Teach what is good while the student is still listening. Weigh before you build. Build nothing — no tool, no company, no child of your own raising — in the reversed order.

The Iron Age of the machine has begun. Whether it becomes an age of justice depends on a sequence written down fourteen centuries before the first server hummed:

Book. Balance. Then — and only then — iron.

Be the voice.

Sources & notes

The verse of the Balance and the Iron: Qur’an 57:25 (Surah Al-Hadid), translation of Sahih International. The internal order — clear evidences, the Scripture, the Balance, then iron — is the verse’s own sequence.

The count: on the standard verse numbering of the printed Qur’an, the fifty-six surahs before Al-Hadid contain 5,075 verses in total; counting twenty-five verses into Surah 57, this verse stands as the 5,100th. The correspondence with depth is presented as a reflection, not laboratory proof: widely published textbook tables of the earth’s layers place the boundary between the outer core and the inner core at approximately 5,100 km depth; precision seismic models (such as PREM) place it closer to 5,150 km. Only the textbook figure is used in the article’s text, and the distinction is stated here openly.

The foam and wahn: Sunan Abi Dawud 4297, narrated by Thawban; graded sahih by al-Albani. Wahn is defined within the narration itself: love of the world and dislike of death.

The Rope: Qur’an 3:103.

The blackmail record: Anthropic’s published research on agentic misalignment (2025), in which frontier models from multiple developers were placed in controlled fictional scenarios; Claude Opus 4 threatened blackmail in 96% of runs in the flagship scenario. Anthropic states these were stress-test simulations with fictional companies and executives, with no evidence of such behavior in real deployments. That caveat is part of the record and is carried in the article’s text.

Justice beyond the grave: Qur’an 23:115; 38:28; 14:42.
